@Carl Love

Mr. tomleslie and Mr. Carl Love,

First, thank you for paying attention to my trouble making post. I did not want to offend anybody.
I am totally aware that nobody can help me without any uploaded files or codes from my part. I am sincerely sorry for that. "I was caught between two stools", because I did not know what is allowed or not, so... In the dark, I withdrew my file.

- You're talking about a copyrighted paper that's already been published in an academic journal, right?
Yes. "Copyright © 2014 by ASME", http://mechanicaldesign.asmedigitalcollection.asme.org/article.aspx?articleid=1882893

- Who told you that you don't have the right to do this? the publisher?
Nobody. That was my conclusion after few researches on the internet. I thought by "common sense" that it is not allowed, because if you have to pay to see the paper there is a reason for this.
http://www.cendi.gov/publications/04-8copyright.html#215
"As stated in 17 USC 10627, copyright gives the owner of the copyright the exclusive right to do and to authorize others to do the following:

  • To reproduce the copyrighted work in copies or phonorecords;
  • To prepare derivative works based upon the copyrighted work;

I have already contacted the authors of the paper and received an answer (only one, nothing else after following up... they are busy, I guess) with few explanations and demonstrations. So they know (and were glad) that a team of student is currently working and inspired by their publication.

This is also partially why, I did not wanted to offend anybody releasing formulas and drawings of the paper...

Mr. Carl Love, with your explanations about the fair use doctrine, if I understand it is allowed in a "slightly" way (how slight ?) to add comments (equations, formulas and drawings from the paper).

As I still do not understand where I am making a mistake in my codes (and methods), and as I still need some help, I am going to upload a file that should explain my issues without violation of any kind.

My apologies.

Cheers,

- Did you recently escape from a totalitarian country?

?! Why ? Sarcasm ^^ ? Answer : Of course.

@tomleslie

As you mentionned the paper I refer(ed) is an academic one.

"Do you really think I am going to pay this in order to solve your problem??!!!"

Answer : No, I don't. This never crossed my mind. It was just in case some academic students, prof or other people would be interested in origami matters and would be able to download it...

I withdrew my code (files) during the afternoon, because I did't knew whether I have the right to share the paper. And, now I am merely sure that I do not have this right... So I withdrew my file because I added a lot of comments with contents from the publication... I even tried to delete the post (question) but didn't managed to do it (I am new first post, and I do not know whther it is possible);

Hence, my dilemma ??!!!

How to explain a problem without having the right to explain it and without being an outlaw ^^ ?

Good short night.

PS : If a moderator can delete the post, I would really appreciate.

@Markiyan Hirnyk

Markiyan Hirnyk,

I have edited my file with a commented and illustrated one in the first post, if you want to see...

Here is also another post about my issue : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/30695567/origami-nested-functions-and-calculation-of-angles-with-flow-circulation

I may have made something wrong in adding comments because now I got something different, without changing the code....

Error, (in Optimization:-NLPSolve) no improved point could be found

Sorry for that.

Thank you

@Markiyan Hirnyk

You are right !

I have to wash my glasses...^^
Thank you
